DEAR MUMMY B
SYNOPSIS:
An elderly restaurant owner becomes an over night internet sensation when her daughter uploads a video of her on YouTube. Her new status brings wealth, fame and the attention of men which threatens the relationship between mother and daughter.
THE GOOD:
This movie is worthy of being called revolutionary, in approximately 100 minutes Remi Ibinola captures the dynamic between modern day Nigerian society and technology; the movie is a window into the unique relationship between technology and the older Nigerian generation.
The beautiful story and effortless dialogue is complemented by good casting and acting. The movie has the perfect balance of emotions and comedy.
Ada Ameh is in her element in this film, you cannot help but love Mummy B. The movie also explores an interesting mother daughter dynamic. The twist at the end is a definitely a plus, we are also blessed with an audience favorite, a happy ending.
THE BAD:
The movie starts out a bit slow. The choice to use Ijeoma Grace Agu as Betty was a bad choice, she is too old for the role, her hair and make - up only ages her more.

Sound scores are a bit ill - fitting. Finally Betty's interest in YouTube should have been indicated earlier, in the scene she was sending the video to a friend, there was no explanation as to whether it was a mistake, suddenly she wakes up happy about views.
VERDICT:
Movie is a stroke of genius, it is a perfect portrayal of the "Nigerian Dream". Deserves to be in the cinema.
